Blooming

It’s not quite Easter but fitting that the bluebells are blooming. What a week! My last Holy Week before ordination. That would be an impossible thought to bear if Jesus hadn’t made that sacrifice over 2000 years ago, the sacrifice of dying for us to set us free, allowing us to bloom and declare ‘in God we trust!’ May all my fellow final-year ordinands find the space to bloom as we look towards the end of our courses and await to join the deaconate. #smclife #thoughtsfromswallowbarn via Instagram http://bit.ly/2GvM796

My Ember Card

As ordination and admission to Holy Orders approaches at Petertide it’s traditional to send Ember Cards, asking people to pray for the candidate, their family, the priest they will be working and training with in their new churches, and the people of those churches.

I’m mainly sending my Ember Card virtually via this blog in a small attempt to reduce the pressure on the environment. Here it is:

Please pray for all to be admitted
to Holy Orders this Petertide,
among them

Anthony Richard Bennett

to be made Deacon by

The Rt Revd Nick Baines,
Bishop of Leeds

in Wakefield Cathedral
at 3:00 pm
on Saturday 29th June 2019

Please also pray for Anthonyโ€™s family,
for the Revd Peter Mullins,
and the people of the benefice of
Haworth and Cross Roads-cum-Lees,
where Anthony is to serve
as Assistant Curate.

The trees

Wonderful to get out for a stroll this afternoon and visit the trees on Old Sawood Lane. They don’t seem to have changed for the last 20 years ๐Ÿ™‚

Silent walking

Wonderful to join the parish Holy Week meditative silent walk this morning to Kildwick Cross. #silentwalking #thoughtsfromswallowbarn via Instagram http://bit.ly/2V4I37U

Sounds good

A new record for 5K sounds good but running along the flat by the canal is probably cheating! #silentrunning #thoughtsfromswallowbarn via Instagram http://bit.ly/2GdMFQZ

Holy Land reflections

Keighley Shared Church, Wednesday 17th April 7.45-9 15pm, including Compline (Night Prayer).

No need to book, just come along to hear my reflections on my recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land, meditate on scripture as we approach Easter, and pray together as we celebrate the beautiful liturgy of Compline (Night Prayer). For further info please email: anthony@keighleyparish.org.

Keeping up the pace

Nice run out from Halifax Swimming Pool while small daughter’s doing her synchro. Exactly the same average pace as my last 10k so definitely scope for improvement! #silentrunning #ThoughtsFromSwallowBarn via Instagram https://ift.tt/2TL6446

Light breaks forth

Blessed are you, God of compassion and mercy, to you be praise and glory for ever.
In the darkness of our sin, your light breaks forth like the dawn and your healing springs up for deliverance. As we rejoice in the gift of your saving help, sustain us with your bountiful Spirit and open our lips to sing your praise. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

Running again

First 10k run yesterday for probably 25 years! Took me twice as long as it did then, so lots of scope for gradual improvement. #ThoughtsFromSwallowBarn
